Vernissage & Music w/Lisa Hoffman

March 17th, 2010

A few weeks ago I got a message on my fan page from local artist Lisa Hoffman. She was hanging her art work up when she saw me at my monthly solo acoustic show at Burritoville and invited me to play at her upcoming vernissage.

The opening of Lisa’s art exhibit will take place this Thursday, March 18th on the second floor of Burritoville, 2055 Bishop. Live music will be provided by Lisa Hoffman herself, followed by me and the band and ending with The Fruiting Bodies. The fun starts at 8pm and it’s free.

Hope to see you there! And as always please spread the word :)

Refrain DVD/VOD on Sale Now!

March 10th, 2010

The band and I had a great time performing the songs from the Refrain soundtrack at the DVD launch this past Saturday. Again, big thank you to all who came out. For those who don’t know about Refrain yet you can check out the trailer and download the songs from the soundtrack for free.

Refrain was a true passion project and it addresses a very tough issue – domestic violence. But music is also a big part of the movie. I think anyone who is struggling to find their voice will be able to relate.

Refrain is available at the following distributors:

Amazon.com (DVD both US & Int’l)
Amazon VOD (US Only)
Indlieflix (DVD & VOD both US & Int’l)
From the Refrain eStore (DVD both US & Int’l)

(DVD shipping costs vary for international locations from vendor to vendor.)

Thanks for your support and spread the word!

Revamped Refrain Songs

February 28th, 2010

I had an awesome rehearsal with my band mates yesterday. We’ve been fine tuning the musical arrangements for the Refrain songs and they sound amazing!

I’m feeling good about how the band is coming together – adding new leads and breaks in the songs, polishing up the rough edges and tightening the sound overall – it’s great to see how hard work plus focus can pay off.

Christina Gavino our cellist will be rockin’ her bad self on the bass for a few of the songs. I know she’s looking forward to embracing the freedom of standing up to play an instrument.

I have a sneaking suspicion that this is going to be our best show yet ;)

Get ready folks. The Refrain DVD / VOD launch party is Sat, March 6th at Burritoville, 2055 Bishop, 2nd floor (across from the Concordia Hall building, metro Guy Concordia). The fun begins at 8pm and admission if FREE!

Looking forward to seeing you all there.

The Belle Game

February 14th, 2010

I had the pleasure of playing with a great band in January at Shaika called The Belle Game. Their sound pulls inspiration from the back and forth duet stylings often featured in the music of Canadian indie band Stars along with delicate musical arrangements that include the violin and the trumpet.

I was very impressed by how true they stay to their recordings when playing live which as most musicians know is no easy feat.

Check out their myspace page to find out where they’re playing next and support them by buying their wonderfully crafted EP Inventing Letters from their website.

New Dynamic

February 12th, 2010

Yesterday, we had probably one of our best practices yet. Everyone was in sync and I can see that we’re growing a lot tighter as a group.

We hammered down the changes in the musical arrangements of some songs where Andy has worked his magic on lead guitar. As Andy likes to say “It’s all about the dynamics” and it’s amazing what a few little changes in the right places can do for a song.

Tomorrow will be our first show with Andy on lead guitar. The newly expanded band will make its debut in the intimate setting of the Yellow Door opening for Katie Sevigny at 8:30pm.

Hope to see you there!

p.s. I love hearing from our listeners so stay connected with us on our fan page through facebook
