The Fortune Stick is Always Right

Realizing that I forgot to fulfill my daily ritual of reading my Chinese fortune stick yesterday, this morning I marched straight into the kitchen and fished out my destiny. It read:

You work is best done alone not in a group

That may be true in the case of song writing but it is definitely not the case when it comes to playing with my band. And besides, how all-knowing is a fortune when it’s got a typo, right?

So, it’s official. We’ve added one more new band member to the mix and it’s sounding awesome. I’ve played with Andy a few times before and he has come up with some really great rifts on lead guitar. Yesterday was his first practice with the whole band and it seems like the missing piece has been filled.

Is it always this easy? Even since the beginning, this band has come together so naturally and with minimal effort on my end. God knows that I spent countless days in my younger years desperately trying to find myself a match – whether it was by assuming the position of a chameleon in someone else’s band or trying to twist musicians into being something they were not for my projects.

Good things come to those who wait.

Maybe that should have been on my fortune stick!
